Doug Carpenter

Dr. Douglas Carpenter holds a license as a Psychologist in the State of Michigan. He is the co-owner of Insight Counseling Services with his spouse, Mary A. Carpenter, LMSW. Dr. Carpenter graduated with his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1998. He earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Substance Abuse Rehabilitation from Pace University in 1994. He has an Associate of Arts in Theological Studies from Kent Christian College in 1990. Dr. Carpenter has a long history of teaching psychology on the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has extensive knowledge in the area of chemical and behavioral addictions. He conducts individual and family therapy with males and females typically ages 16 and older. He is skilled in working with individuals with affective disorders, grief and loss, anxiety, and specializes in men’s issues such as past sexual trauma, sexual addiction and compulsivity, sexual dysfunctions and other related male disorders. He is the recent author of Childhood Trauma and the Non-Alpha Male. Dr. Carpenter is a member of the American Counseling Association. He has served on community boards for drug and alcohol prevention and served on several national training committees during his time as an educator. He has a long history in the Apostolic faith. He is an active member of The Apostolic Church of Auburn Hill, MI where he teaches classes and is heavily involved in the music program. He enjoys reading, studying, research, church activities, and spending time with his family and three dogs.
