Christen received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in the State of Texas, Co-founder of The Houston Center for Valued Living and currently serving as an Ambassador for OCD Texas.
Upon completion of her master’s degree Christen worked as a behavioral therapist treating OCD, anxiety disorders, BFRBs and depression at a residential, intensive-outpatient and outpatient level. Christen has been working with OCD and various disorders for over a decade, has completed intensive training with the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and was BTTI Certified in 2015. Christen has served on the board of OCD Texas since 2010 and after several years as the president is now serving as the Houston Ambassador.
Christen’s training and current practice involve utilizing evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) combined with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, tic disorders and depression. Christen focuses on combining warmth and acceptance with directness to help her clients get back to living their best lives. Christen works with all ages (tweens, teens and adults) and offers family support for those suffering with OCD.
